Family Day at MoCA CT
Join us for a vibrant Family Day at MoCA CT on August 18th from 12-2 PM! Experience a fusion of art, music, and community spirit with a special jazz-centered performance by Oran Etkin’s Timbalooloo and an engaging African drumming demonstration by the talented Kwame’ Henry Jones.
Event Highlights:
- Interactive Music Experiences:
- 12-1 PM: African Drumming Demo with multi-instrumentalist Kwame’ Henry Jones. Dive into the world of West African rhythms using authentic instruments, including Djembe, Doundoun, and Shakere’. Mr. Jones, a beloved artist in Fairfield County, will teach us how music shares thoughts, ideas, and stories.
- 1-2 PM: Enjoy a magical musical journey led by Oran Etkin: Timbalooloo, a celebrated clarinetist and composer recognized for his contributions to jazz and family music. Timbalooloo’s mission is to inspire and empower a new generation to become proficient in the language of music. Timbalooloo celebrates diverse musical traditions and encourages the creation of new music.
- Art Tents: Meet our dedicated teachers and explore various art mediums, allowing families to engage creatively.
- Ice Cream Treats: The South Norwalk Ice Cream truck will be serving delicious treats!
- Galleries and Gardens: Take the opportunity to explore our exhibitions, including the unique display of over 100 Swiss posters in “ColleCTomania” featuring works from Tom Strong and other artists. Walk the grounds and explore our teaching garden.
- Artisan Marketplace: Open from 12-4 PM, offering handcrafted items such as jewelry, pottery, textiles, and artwork—perfect for everyone.
