The Headhunters

Formed in 1973 around Herbie Hancock’s groundbreaking recordings Head Hunters, Thrust, and Man-Child, The Headhunters quickly became one of the most influential jazz-funk ensembles of all time. Today, the band is co-led by original members Bill Summers (percussion) and Mike Clark (drums), alongside NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison on alto saxophone. With a legacy built on fearless experimentation and undeniable chemistry, The Headhunters have shaped the sound of modern music, selling over a million albums worldwide and becoming one of the most sampled groups in hip-hop history. Their fusion of jazz, funk, and rock not only defined an era but laid the foundation for generations of musicians across genres. As Glide Magazine put it: “Lock yourself in and it’s really not much different than the band’s infectious sound from fifty years ago.”

Texas headhunters

Texas Headhunters is what happens when three of Texas’ fiercest guitar slingers – Ian Moore, Johnny Moeller, and Jesse Dayton – finally collide on the same stage. Born from deep roots, old friendships, and a shared reverence for the swaggering soul of Texas blues, this is not your average jam. It’s a movement. A reckoning. A new chapter in the book of American roots music. Each member carries serious pedigree: Moore’s psychedelic fire, Moeller’s deep-pocket sting, and Dayton’s outlaw storytelling have powered everything from The Fabulous Thunderbirds to Austin’s Antone’s legacy to Grammy-nominated collaborations and cult favorite solo records. Decades ago, Kyle Hollingsworth set out on a career in music. With a wealth of desire and an abundance of ability, Hollingsworth has established himself as a formidable and versatile music talent deftly able to contribute, collaborate, compose, and communicate on a number of levels and within a vast spectrum of musical environments. Today, as a member of acclaimed jam masters The String Cheese Incident, Hollingsworth is revered by both peers and fans for his ability to write and perform in a mosaic of styles, from rock to classical, ragtime to bebop. Playing in SCI has allowed him unrestricted access to the world of music, and has bestowed on him the kind of fearlessness a composer needs to flirt with such disparate genres. Those who’ve seen SCI know that they can jerk from funk to bluegrass on a chord change. “In the jam world, where there are no set ways of doing things, we’re not afraid to move in and out of genres,” he says, “and because of that I’ve learned to be creative, not only onstage but in the studio. I can get on board with something pretty quickly. You have to.”

The Jauntee

The Jauntee is a boundary-pushing quartet known for blending jazz, funk, rock, and psychedelia into adventurous, improvisation-driven live shows. Formed in Boston in 2010, the band — Caton Sollenberger (guitar), Scott Ferber (drums), Tyler Adams (keys), and John Loland (bass) — has built a loyal following with their genre-fluid performances and seamless musical chemistry. Each show is a unique journey through shifting moods and intricate jams, earning them a reputation as a touring powerhouse and a standout force in the evolving world of modern improvisational music.

The Cactus Blossoms
