Residual Groove

Residual Groove is a five-piece indie-jam band from Southern Connecticut that has quickly carved out a rising presence on the modern jam landscape through fearless creativity and locked-in musical chemistry. Blending psychedelic funk rock and thoughtful indie-reminiscent songwriting, the band thrives at the intersection of structure and spontaneity, where carefully crafted songs open into expansive, playful jams and seamless, improv-driven segues.

Formed just four years ago, Residual Groove is anchored by brothers Previn Edwards (guitar, vocals) and Kiran Edwards (keyboards, vocals), whose collaborative chemistry shapes the band’s melodic and harmonic identity, and is rounded out by Ryan Berry (bass, backing vocals), Adam Finkelstein (drums, backing vocals), and Garrett Halstead (percussion), who together lay down a rhythm section that is both precise and exploratory, equally capable of deep, entrancing grooves and sudden lift-offs.

While the live show experience is a central pillar of the band’s identity, Residual Groove places equal emphasis on studio work and intentional songwriting. Their songs are meticulously shaped, lyrically resonant, and designed to reward repeat listening without sacrificing the immediacy of their live experience.

Dead Meadow

Dead Meadow are a band hailing from Washington D.C, United States who formed in 1998. Since debuting, the band have released seven studio albums and become one of the most respected cult acts in the world of stoner rock.

Forming from the ashes of two D.C based bands called The Impossible Five and Colour, the first incarnation of Dead Meadow was formed by guitarist and vocalist Jason Simon, bassist Steve Kille and drummer Mark Laughlin. With their seamless combination of prime 70’s heavy metal , 60’s psychedelia and lyrics cribbed from Tolkien and Lovecraft, the band signed to Fugazi bassist Joe Lally’s record label Tolotta Records in 2000, a mere two years after they formed. Their self-titled debut album followed in the same year, which was so acclaimed that BBC Radio One legend John Peel asked them to record a session for his evening radio show. However, as the band couldn’t afford to fly to London and record it, Dead Meadow became the first band in the session’s 37 year history to record their session outside of the BBC’s studios.

2001 saw the release of their second album “Howls From The Hills” and after the release of their live album “Got Live If You Want It” in 2002, the band signed to Matador Records in 2003, making them labelmates with the likes of Pavement, Guided By Voices and Belle and Sebastian. Ever since then, the band have remained one of the most consistent acts in stoner rock, with seven acclaimed studio albums to their name and a live show that could knock anyone for six. They’ve earned the respect of the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe (no easy feat) and inspired acts like Wolfmother, who reinterpreted the Dead Meadow track “Everything’s Goin’ On” as “Pilgrim” on their second album “Cosmic Egg”. They’re still going from strength to strength over a decade and a half after forming, and for that, Dead Meadow come highly recommended.

Davy Knowles

Since bursting on to the scene with his band Back Door Slam’s critically acclaimed album ‘Roll Away’ in 2007 (“I heard the spirit of Jimi Hendrix” Patrick McDonald – Seattle Times), Davy’s star has only risen. His sophomore release ‘Coming Up For Air’ was produced by the legendary Peter Frampton (“Davy already has a recognizable style. He’s definitely the gunslinger guitarist of the 21st century,’’– Peter Frampton), with subsequent tours seeing him supporting and sharing the stage with acts such as Jeff Beck, The Who, Joe Bonamassa, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Thorogood, Brian Setzer, the Sammy Hagar-fronted supergroup Chickenfoot, and guitar hero Joe Satriani who called Davy “My favorite modern Bluesman”.

Knowles has several top-5 Billboard Blues charting albums under his belt, high profile TV appearances (Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS Good Morning America among others), and has been praised with high accolades from heroes and press alike – but it’s not just the music industry who has taken note. Knowles was also the very first artist in history to perform live to the International Space Station directly from mission control in Houston TX, and has had his music taken to the Space Station by two astronauts, Nicole Stott and Ron Garan, on their missions orbiting Earth.

Never one to be satisfied or to sit still, Knowles has explored multiple genres and styles, from the hard-hitting 70’s classic rock influenced album ‘Three Miles From Avalon’, to the haunting acoustic delta blues of ‘1932’, and the sweet, soul-searching folk of 2023’s ‘If I Should Wander’.

Whether spending an evening onstage armed with just an acoustic guitar, or wielding his well worn and trusty Telecaster while fronting his blues/rock trio – and at any point in between the two – Davy Knowles is a versatile and formidable songwriter and musician.

Alison Brown

Acoustic instrumental music has never been so beautifully represented as by Alison Brown. As one of the most multi-faceted minds on today’s roots music scene, every one of Alison’s endeavors is marked by innovation, intelligence, and grace. As a banjo player, she throws out the textbook when it comes playing the banjo and the result is a sound that blends the rugged drive of bluegrass with the harmonic sensibilities of jazz, earning vast acclaim and a GRAMMY award in the process.

“Like James Taylor’s voice or B.B. King’s guitar, Alison Brown’s banjo is an instrument possessed of a unique sonic signature and an inescapable beauty….an artist who never ceases to delight.” —Billboard Magazine

One of the most multi-faceted minds in roots music, Alison Brown is a GRAMMY-winning musician, GRAMMY-nominated producer, former investment banker (with an AB from Harvard and an MBA from UCLA), and co-founder of The Compass Records Group.

She is known for taking the instrument far beyond its Appalachian roots by blending bluegrass and jazz influences into a sonic tapestry that has earned praise and recognition from a variety of national tastemakers including The Wall Street Journal, CBS Sunday Morning, NPR, and USA Today.

The Englishtown Project

The Englishtown Project is a unique tribute to one of the most legendary concerts in rock history — the Grateful Dead’s epic 1977 show at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. Formed by longtime New Riders of the Purple Sage member Michael Falzarano, the band revives the magic of that historic day by celebrating the music of the Grateful Dead, The Marshall Tucker Band, and New Riders of the Purple Sage. What began as a one-off show at Brooklyn Bowl has grown into a movement, with over 150 performances and counting.

More than just a tribute act, The Englishtown Project mixes deep cuts, crowd favorites, and even original material inspired by the Southern rock, cosmic country, and psychedelic roots that defined the era. With a rotating setlist and a “call it out, we might play it” attitude, every show becomes a fresh celebration of timeless American music and the communal spirit that keeps it alive.

Buckethead

Buckethead is a virtuoso guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who performs within many genres of music. He has released over 700 studio recordings, way more than anyone else in the history of music.650+ of those are in his Pike series. He has also performed on over 50 more albums by other artists. His music spans such diverse areas as progressive metal, funk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, and avant-garde.

When performing in his theatrical persona, Buckethead used to wear a KFC bucket on his head, emblazoned with an orange bumper sticker reading “FUNERAL” in capital black block letters, and a plain white costume mask. More recently, he has switched to a plain white bucket no longer bearing the KFC logo. He also incorporates nunchucks, robot dancing, and toy trading into his stage performances. Buckethead’s persona represents a character that was “raised by chickens” and has made it his “mission in life to alert the world to the ongoing chicken holocaust in fast-food joints around the globe.”

An instrumentalist, Buckethead is best known for his electric guitar playing. He has been voted by GuitarOne magazine as one of the “Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time”. Guitar World credits Buckethead for “ushering in [a] new era of virtuosity”.

Buckethead has most recently performed solo and with a 3-piece band. He has collaborated with many high-profile artists such as Bootsy Collins, Bill Laswell & Praxis, Les Claypool, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Serj Tankian, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen, Brain, and tons more.
