Fairfield County Students Win Awards at Connecticut Invention Convention State Finals
Inventions included practical innovations that address real-world issues, including education, accessibility, safety, climate change, and health
53 Fairfield County students were honored recently for their ingenuity at the 41st-annual Connecticut Invention Convention State Finals. They were among over 150 award-winning K-12 inventors from across the state who were celebrated during the June 8 event.
12,000 students across the state participated in the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) curriculum through their classroom, school, community organization, or CIC’s independent inventor program. Over 700 students competed in the CIC’s virtual semi-finals competition, and 350 advanced to the in-person State Finals at the University of Connecticut’s Gampel Pavilion.
The Connecticut Invention Convention is an internationally-recognized educational organization started in 1983. Throughout the year, educators use CIC curriculum to develop creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills through innovation and entrepreneurship. These efforts culminate in the State Finals competition event.
