East Hartford launches emergency data sharing platform for residents

The Town of East Hartford announced a partnership with Community Connect on Monday, introducing a platform that allows residents and businesses to share critical property and occupant information with first responders.

The application, announced during a press conference at the East Hartford Public Safety Complex, allows users to create profiles detailing information such as garage entry codes, gas shutoff valve locations and the presence of pets. This data is intended to support Fire and EMS personnel with specialized knowledge before they arrive at a location.

“Community Connect enables responders to access critical occupancy information in times of emergency,” said East Hartford Fire Chief Kevin Munson. “Community Connect is a contemporary version of the ‘Tot Finder’ sticker that can be accessed immediately by responders from secured mobile technology.”

The initiative is part of Mayor Connor Martin’s Community Risk Reduction program. The platform uses bank-level encryption, and officials stated that data is not shared with outside agencies.

“Solutions like Community Connect allow our first responders to best serve the people who call East Hartford home,” Martin said. “It is a highly personalized and effective way for us to get necessary information, ensuring we continue to respond in the best interest of our residents.”

The East Hartford Fire Department has used the parent software, First Due, for records management since March 2024. Residents can register for the service through the town’s official website.
