Discovery to Cure program brings gynecologic cancer awareness event to the shore

Peter E. Schwartz Discovery to Cure, a nationally recognized foundation dedicated to advancing research for gynecologic cancers, will host a special luncheon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at The Delamar Hotel, located at 105 Greenmanville Ave, Mystic, Connecticut.

Titled “Lunch With a Purpose… Breaking the Silence Surrounding Gynecologic Cancers,” the event will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Elena Ratner, an internationally respected gynecologic oncologist, surgeon, and researcher.

The luncheon is co-chaired and co-sponsored by Judi Caracausa, a longtime community leader and advocate for women’s health, along with fellow supporters committed to education, early detection, and lifesaving research.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Peter E. Schwartz Discovery to Cure Foundation at the Yale School of Medicine, supporting innovative research focused on prevention, treatment, and improved outcomes for gynecologic cancers.

“This luncheon is about education, empowerment, and action,” said Caracausa. “By bringing this important conversation to the shoreline community, we hope to raise awareness, inspire philanthropy, and help accelerate research that saves lives.”

Dr. Elena Ratner

Dr. Elena Ratner is a Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences and a Gynecologic Oncologist at Yale School of Medicine. She is internationally recognized for her leadership in the treatment and research of ovarian, uterine, cervical, and other gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Ratner serves as Director of Gynecologic Oncology Clinical Trials and is a leading investigator in cutting-edge research focused on early detection, innovative therapies, and personalized cancer treatment. She is deeply committed to patient-centered care, education, and mentorship, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications advancing the field of gynecologic oncology.

In addition to her clinical and academic work, Dr. Ratner is a passionate advocate for breaking the silence surrounding women’s cancers—encouraging open dialogue, early screening, and sustained research funding to improve survival rates and quality of life for patients.
