Connecticut Sun to honor Jasmine Thomas as Sun Legend on July 2

The Connecticut Sun professional basketball franchise has announced plans to honor former player Jasmine Thomas as an official Sun Legend during an upcoming home game. The pregame ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at PeoplesBank Arena before the team faces the Dallas Wings. The evening matchup is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Thomas played for the Connecticut franchise from 2015 through 2022, serving as the starting point guard for the team. She currently holds several top statistical placements in franchise history, ranking second all-time in assists with 994 and steals with 286. Additionally, she ranks third in total games played with 222 and three-pointers made with 274, while sitting seventh all-time in scoring with 2,489 points.

The Fairfax, Virginia native originally entered the league when she was selected 12th overall in the 2011 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She was subsequently traded to the Washington Mystics for two seasons and spent time with the Atlanta Dream before arriving in Connecticut. During her tenure with the Sun, Thomas earned an All-Star appearance in 2017 and led the team to three consecutive playoff appearances, including a trip to the 2019 WNBA Finals.

Her individual career accolades with the Connecticut franchise include two Eastern Conference Player of the Week awards and five total WNBA All-Defensive Team selections between 2016 and 2021. She was also recognized twice with the league’s Community Assist Award for her off-court service initiatives. After retiring from professional play in January 2024, Thomas joined the Dallas Wings organization, where she was promoted to Vice President of Basketball Operations and Assistant General Manager prior to the 2025 season.

As part of the announced celebration, Thomas’ number five jersey will be permanently displayed in the rafters at Mohegan Sun Arena. She joins a designated group of previous honorees that includes Jonquel Jones, Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Margo Dydek, Nykesha Sales, Katie Douglas, Lindsay Whalen, and Asjha Jones. Single-game tickets for the anniversary induction event are currently available for public purchase through the organization’s ticketing platform.
