Connecticut Sun to hold Dance Team auditions March 14 at Mohegan Sun

The Connecticut Sun will host open tryouts for its three entertainment teams on Saturday, March 14, at the Mohegan Cabaret Theatre.

Auditions will be held for the Shine Squad, the Sunbursts Junior Dance Team and the Sunsationals. The teams perform at home games and community events, contributing to the game-day atmosphere at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The Shine Squad, the team’s official adult hip-hop dance team, performs at all home games during the 2026 season. Applicants must be 18 or older and bring a current dance résumé. The team is seeking high-energy, versatile dancers with hip-hop experience; tumbling skills are a plus. Check-in runs from 8 to 8:30 a.m., with auditions from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

The Sunbursts Junior Dance Team is open to dancers ages 8 to 14 as of the audition date. The youth performance group appears at select home games and special events. Check-in is from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with auditions from noon to 2 p.m.

The Sunsationals, a co-ed senior dance team for men and women 50 and older, perform at home games throughout the season. Check-in is from 2:30 to 3 p.m., followed by auditions from 3 to 5 p.m.

Auditions are closed to the public. Participants must register in advance by Friday, March 13. Free self-parking is available at Mohegan Sun, with the Riverview Parking Garage the closest option to the Cabaret Theatre.

Dancers should wear athletic clothing and non-marking sneakers, bring water and snacks, and arrive performance-ready with hair and makeup complete. All participants must submit a non-returnable 5-by-7 headshot and be available for home games, practices and appearances as requested.

Results will be posted on the Connecticut Sun’s website on Monday, March 16, with email notifications sent the following week.
