Connecticut Sun open 2026 season on May 8 at New York Liberty

The Connecticut Sun will open their 2026 WNBA season on the road against the New York Liberty on May 8, the league announced Tuesday with the release of its finalized regular-season schedule.
The Sun will tip off their 24th season at 7:30 p.m. at Barclays Center in Brooklyn before returning home for their opener at Mohegan Sun Arena on May 10 against the Seattle Storm. Connecticut will play a 44-game regular-season schedule running from early May through late September, with a 17-day pause from Aug. 31 to Sept. 16 for the 2026 FIBA World Cup.
Connecticut will face Eastern Conference rivals Chicago and Washington four times each, while playing Atlanta, Indiana, New York and expansion team Toronto three times apiece. The Sun will also meet each Western Conference opponent three times, including first-ever matchups against expansion franchises Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire.

The Sun will again take games on the road within the region. Connecticut will play two regular-season games at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, hosting the Los Angeles Sparks on May 30 and the Dallas Wings on July 2. The franchise will also return to TD Garden in Boston for the third consecutive season, hosting the Sparks on Aug. 18.
The AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be held July 25 at United Center in Chicago, with All-Star Weekend events beginning July 24. Connecticut’s final game before the All-Star break is July 22 at Indiana.
Commissioner’s Cup play will run from June 1–17, with the Sun playing six games as part of the in-season tournament. Connecticut’s longest homestand stretches from June 13 through July 2, while its longest road trip comes early, from May 18–27.
By month, the Sun will play 10 games in May, nine in June, 10 in July, 11 in August and four in September. The team will have one back-to-back during the season, hosting Chicago on Aug. 25 and Golden State on Aug. 26.
