Connecticut band Residual Groove announces ‘Soul.exe,’ releases new single “Human Ghost”

Connecticut-based band Residual Groove has announced the release of its sophomore album, “Soul.exe,” alongside a new single, “Human Ghost,” offering a first look at the group’s evolving sound.

“Soul.exe” is set to arrive April 10 on all streaming platforms, with vinyl preorders launching March 20 (preorder here). The upcoming album marks the band’s most ambitious work to date, exploring themes tied to the growing intersection of humanity and technology.

Across the record, Residual Groove examines identity, artificial connection, and overstimulation in an increasingly digital world. The project moves between tension and release, reflecting on what is lost — and what remains — as the boundaries between physical and virtual life continue to blur.

The newly released single “Human Ghost” introduces listeners to that sonic and thematic direction. The track opens with an atmospheric, slow-building tension, pairing distorted textures with lyrics that evoke digital emptiness and artificial intimacy. Its chorus shifts into a more expansive, anthemic moment, contrasting the unease of the verses with a sense of longing for a more tangible, in-person connection.

Following the urgency of previous releases like “Tick Talk,” the new single leans into darker territory, highlighting the paradox of modern communication — where constant connectivity can still lead to isolation.

Residual Groove is also set to perform several Connecticut dates surrounding the album’s release. The band will appear on March 20 in Norwich at Strange Brew Pub, celebrate the album’s release on April 10 in Fairfield at StageOne at Fairfield Theatre Company, and return to the stage on May 29 in Hartford at Arch Street Tavern.

“Soul.exe” will be available on streaming platforms beginning April 10.
