Charley Crockett
Charley Crockett spent 15 years positioning himself firmly outside of the cogs and gears that drive the music industry. The road to stardom never interested the San Benito, Texas, native. It was another path, the one forged by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, which captivated Crockett. “What is classified as solid country gold from Willie and Waylon now,” he says, “was absolutely what they saw as disruptive, not country, dangerous, counterculture, whatever you want to call it.” Now, proudly in the crosshairs of those same labels, Crockett is not just in his element, he’s thriving.
The April 3 release of Age of the Ram marks Crockett’s third studio album in just over a year and third with Island Records. The LP completes The Sagebrush Trilogy, joining 2025’s Lonesome Drifter and the Grammy-nominated Dollar a Dayrecords to paint a vivid picture of Crockett’s journey from Texas dreamer, New York street singer, and twice-convicted felon to the belly of the country music beast. Like the previous two, Age of the Ram was produced by Shooter Jennings at the venerable Sunset Sound Studio 3 in Los Angeles.
In Jennings, he found a friend, a peer, and a producer with a grasp on Crockett’s approach that most others missed. “They didn’t have a good handle on how I create and how fast I can move when I’m inspired and the microphones are on,” he says of the traditional music industry.
After threading characters and storylines across the first two albums in the project, Age of the Ram finds Crockett and Jennings pushing their creativity with a concept record echoing the legacies of Nelson, Jennings, and even Gram Parsons. This is Crockett’s vision of hard country music. Guitar and pedal steel are the rule on the album, often accompanied by piano, harmonica and keys. The liner notes set the expectations:
“Age of the Ram is the story of Billy McLane, a small-time cattle rustler who finds himself in the crosshairs of the Santa Fe ring. Pursued by bounty killers working for the shadow syndicate, Billy McLane escapes into the crazy mountains, where the outlaw will become a legend.’
In McLane’s character, Age of the Ram puts a name to Sagebrush Trilogy characters like “The Lonesome Drifter” and, time and again, threads Crockett’s life in music to the story he has crafted. A series of short theme tracks — “The Life and Times of Billy McLane” which Crockett penned, plus covers of “Rancho Deluxe,” Jimmy Buffett’s dueling themes for the 1975 cattle-rustling comedy of the same name — frame the narrative. Throughout the album, sounds of galloping horses, crackling old western movie dialogue and gunfights emerge over the blues, bluegrass, waltzes and old-school two-step numbers. The sound may be vintage Crockett, but his creativity is in overdrive, ensuring his spaghetti western tale shines through the music.
This is his version of Red Headed Stranger, but where Nelson’s definitive concept album remained dark and shrouded in mystery, Crockett lays his vision bare. “Lonesome Dove” reveals his numbness to artists chasing glory. “Kentucky Too Long” passes as a bank-robbery song until Crockett deadpans “I’d have split the take if you really know me,” reminding listeners of his loyalty to the people in his corner and evoking the heavy introspection of Parsons’ Grievous Angel record. Then, on “Billy McLane,” Crockett drives the concept home as he sings, “I ain’t nobody, just another traveler, trying not to get killed by his name.”
Not until his cover of Billy Joe Shaver’s “Low Down Freedom” does Crockett break from his characters and his concepts to pay tribute to late nights hanging with his producer — and a lyrical cameo by Crockett’s wife and partner, Taylor Grace — on “Me & Shooter.” After all, that’s still his right as the biggest thorn in Music City’s side.
“Any time a Texan goes into the Nashville machine and keeps his faculties,” Crockett says, “that machine’s bound to change.”

Moe.
Thirty-five years ago, a posse of University of Buffalo-based musician-friends got together to play music. Out of freewheeling sessions bursting with bold, genre-defying creativity and tongue-in-cheek humor, a 6-headed monster named moe. emerged.
Decades later, moe.’s tireless work ethic, DIY resourcefulness, infectious songwriting, and highly-engaged fanbase—the Famoe.ly—have enabled the sextet to earn a successful career. Yet, the guys have never rested on their laurels as “jam band pioneers.” They average 100 shows per year, and regularly release vital new music, including the band’s latest album, Circle of Giants (ATO), its 13th release.
Circle of Giants was almost all tracked when bassist/vocalist Rob Derhak’s 25-year-old son died tragically, but it’s no downer. Visceral and vulnerable, the 10-collection confronts life’s challenges with grace, humor, hard-fought wisdom, and jaw-dropping musicality. Creatively-invigorated by the addition of keyboardist Nate Wilson to the full-time lineup, moe. has created a milestone album while processing an unfathomable loss.
moe. is a brotherhood, featuring Derhak, Schnier, guitarist/vocalist Chuck Garvey, drummer Vinnie Amico, percussionist/vibraphonist Jim Loughlin, and keyboardist Nate Wilson. The six-piece band came up in the primordial pouch of the early jam band scene, alongside Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, Widespread Panic, and Phish.
Lauded by American Songwriter for its “mind-bending musicality,” moe. is beloved for its sonic adventurousness, unbridled showmanship, and its witty and insightful songwriting. NYS Music has said: “moe. has redefined what’s possible within the genre, leaving a lasting impact and challenging listeners to rethink the limits of musical expression.”
Since releasing its foundational album, Fatboy, in 1992, moe. has issued a vast and varied series of now-classic records. Select studio album highlights include 1998’s Tin Cans & Car Tires; 2004’s Wormwood; 2007’s The Conch (which reached #1 on Billboard’s “Heatseekers” chart); and 2012’s critically-acclaimed What Happened To The La Las.

The Living Tombstone
The Living Tombstone has been dubbed “the internet’s biggest gaming band” – (NME)
“TLT” as they are known to their legion of fans, are the duo Yoav Landau and Sam Haft. Having created and released music for the last 15 years, they have amassed 9 million YouTube subscribers, and their music has achieved over 70 billion streams across platforms. The band is coming off a sold-out four-continent-spanning 2025 World Tour. Their unique position as both recording artists and influencers in the gaming and ‘geekdom’ space gives them a significant cultural footprint and history, with multiple RIAA-awarded songs, and even charting at #4 on the Dance/Electronic chart with their track “Five Nights At Freddy’s,” which was used in the end credits of the Blumhouse/NBC Universal produced film. TLT’s “It’s Been so Long” was then used in the end-credits of Five Nights At Freddy’s 2.
“Our fans connect to us because they’re obsessed with lore and story. So now we’re giving them a story that belongs entirely to them,” says band member Sam Haft, who portrays the primary vocalist character “Rust” onstage. “I don’t think of us as The Living Tombstone – I think of us as the two guys who write the story for The Living Tombstone. The act has its own world and its own characters for people to follow. It’s our job to continue to provide fans with an interesting narrative.”
Haft, originally a TV and film writer by trade, joined The Living Tombstone as a songwriter-lyricist-vocalist seven years ago, but ask him and he’ll tell you, “The magic is all Yoav. I’m hardworking and lucky – he’s special.” Founding member Yoav Landau, who portrays the band’s frontman character “zero_one” onstage, started TLT as a form of escapism, feeling isolated as a teenager. Yoav found an emotional outlet in developing music about his favorite television shows to connect with like-minded fans and communities across the world. With a rapidly growing viral music act, Yoav dropped out of college, and has been doing The Living Tombstone full time since.
“I’m super grateful for the existence of YouTube,” explains Yoav. “The internet always felt more like a home to me than anywhere else.” And the more Yoav began to create, the more his “home” of the internet embraced him. Before meeting Haft, he had already amassed hundreds of millions of streams, and one of YouTube’s earliest million-subscriber plaques.
TLT’s manager, Octone Records co-founder David Boxenbaum, never thought he would manage an act, but something surprised him when he first encountered TLT. “These guys disprove the rule, that you can’t just put your music out there and expect people to find it,” he says with a grin. “These guys put it out there, and millions of people found it.” And he’s right – they have – from major movie studios like Universal Pictures, to A-Listers like Will Smith and Jack Black. TLT has carved out its own little corner of the geek culture zeitgeist.
TLT encountered Boxenbaum – or “Box” as friends call him – while developing a TV show for Japanese media giant Avex, where he was the head of their music company. It was Box who convinced the act to finally assemble the debut LP album they’d been dreaming up for years, “zero_one”, and take it to the industry, where it was embraced by fans and casual listeners alike.
TLT have in the meantime continued developing projects for TV, video games, and more. In 2021, they released indie horror game In Sound Mind, which was critically well received and rated “overwhelmingly positive” on Steam. Since re-acquiring the rights to their TV project from Avex, they have independently financed a proof-of-concept to their battle of the bands cartoon, “Rock N’ Rumble,” with plans to pitch in Q2 2026. In addition, they’ve spun off the concept into a battle of the bands strategy video game, currently in beta and seeking a publisher.
Since signing their bespoke label Ghost Pixel Records to 10K Projects in 2024, TLT worked alongside industry-best alternative producer CJ Baran (Panic! at the Disco, COIN, One OK Rock) on releasing their 2025 sophomore album, “Rust,” and now are hard at work on their follow-up, “Armstrong.” TLT continues to grow their fandom universe, signing music acts to their label, creating music with huge video games, and performing with musical peers like Bbno$.
