Charter Oak Cultural Center to present Hartford Premiere of Lo Cotidiano
The Charter Oak Cultural Center will host a one-night-only performance of Lo Cotidiano, a new play written and directed by Hartford playwright Cin Martinez, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at The Foisie Family Theatre in Toad Hall at Watkinson School (180 Bloomfield Ave, Hartford, CT 06105).
Commissioned by Charter Oak and inspired by oral histories collected through the center’s Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz Justice Institute, the play highlights the lives, struggles, and triumphs of Latinx women in Hartford. Lo Cotidiano centers on a young woman about to launch her career-changing novel and her mother, who spirals upon discovering that only the grandmother is credited for shaping her daughter’s bold path.
The cast includes Rebecca Betancourt, Taixa Lenid, Mia Lozada, Jessee Muñiz Poland, and Lydia Velez Herrera. Tickets are $20 and available online at charteroakcenter.org/event/cotidiano2026/ or at the door, with no one turned away for lack of funds.

Martinez, a Hartford-based playwright and performer, has received local and national recognition for socially conscious works, including the sold-out play Pegao and her upcoming Moonlighters.
The Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz Justice Institute, established in 2022, uses Mujerista theology and oral history to amplify the voices of Latinx women. Lo Cotidiano draws directly from interviews conducted through the institute, carrying forward Isasi-Diaz’s legacy of social justice and storytelling.
