American Mural Project announces AMERICA250 event series

The American Mural Project has announced a yearlong slate of programs tied to the nation’s semiquincentennial, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Winsted-based nonprofit, home to what it describes as the world’s largest indoor collaborative artwork, will present “AMERICA250 – Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of a Living,” a multipart series exploring how work has shaped national identity and Connecticut communities. The programming is inspired by the themes of everyday Americans and labor depicted in AMP’s five-story mural.

Events include storytelling workshops, live performances, film screenings, exhibits and lectures designed to spark dialogue about labor’s continuing role in American culture and civic life. The AMERICA250 programs are supported by CT Humanities.
