Norwalk Art Space Arts Bash Gala
Internationally-recognized musicians Gail Ann Dorsey and Jeffrey Gaines are set to grace the stage at The Norwalk Art Space (TNAS) on Thursday, May 30th, in support of free art and music education for local students. The event will honor Petty-Drayton Music Program sponsors Adria Petty, Charley Drayton, and Bernard Drayton for their unwavering dedication to TNAS’s free music program.
Gail Ann Dorsey, a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter, boasts a career spanning over three decades. Widely acclaimed for her prowess as a bass guitarist, Dorsey’s vocal talent shines through her collaborations with industry giants such as David Bowie, with whom she performed the iconic duet “Under Pressure”. Her contributions extend to working with artists like Dar Williams, Lenny Kravitz, and Gwen Stefani, making her a versatile force in the music industry.
Jeffrey Gaines, renowned for his soul-searching lyrics and captivating live performances, brings his distinctive sound to the Arts Bash Gala. With a repertoire spanning eight albums, Gaines has garnered praise for singles like “Hero In Me” and has been hailed by The Boston Globe as one of pop’s finest singers. His extensive touring experience, including performances alongside Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Stevie Nicks, solidifies his status as a cherished songwriter and performer.
The Community Arts Bash Gala, scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, will feature these highly anticipated performances and will pay tribute to Adria Petty, Charley Drayton, and Bernard Drayton for their leadership of the Petty-Drayton Music Program at TNAS. Attendees will enjoy culinary delights by Marcia Selden Catering and acclaimed chef Bill Taibe, along with the opportunity to acquire original artwork through silent and live auctions.
Nancy Lefkowitz, chair of The Norwalk Art Space annual fundraising Arts Bash, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “This year, TNAS will pay tribute to my dear friend, Adria Petty, a devoted mother, loyal friend, and talented filmmaker. Adria, the daughter of the late Tom Petty, continues her father’s legacy by enriching lives and uniting communities through the gift of art and music with the Petty-Drayton Music Program at TNAS. Your financial support will directly contribute to providing free arts education for students in our community, ensuring that everyone has access to the transformative power of the arts.
