Big Y customers in Connecticut can now order made-to-order meals from kiosks or online

Big Y Foods has launched in-store kiosks and online ordering for its made-to-order and catering menus, giving Connecticut shoppers new ways to order prepared foods. The family-owned supermarket chain worked with Instacart on the rollout, which runs on FoodStorm, Instacart’s order management technology for prepared foods.

Customers can customize meals at in-store kiosks featuring the Big Y made-to-order kitchen menu. The menu includes handcrafted ‘Wich Way sandwiches, wraps and bowls, from-scratch pizza, fresh fried seafood meals and sushi.

Big Y is offering three ordering options through FoodStorm. Shoppers can use the in-store kiosks, place on-demand or advance orders through a dedicated online storefront for in-store pickup, or have meals delivered through the Instacart Marketplace app. Customers can plan catering days ahead or order a made-to-order meal on the go.

The kiosks and online ordering are available at all 79 Big Y locations, including those in Connecticut. Pickup orders can be placed and prepaid at ordering.bigy.com, and delivery orders can be placed through the Big Y storefront on Instacart.

For store teams, a centralized digital workflow manages production across all order types. Big Y says the system helps improve accuracy, streamline kitchen operations and give teams better visibility into demand before peak periods.
