Red Cross and Metallica team up for three-day blood drive at Mohegan Sun

The American Red Cross and Metallica are teaming up again for a three-day blood drive at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. The drive comes ahead of the band’s upcoming Connecticut concerts honoring Mohegan Sun Arena’s 25th anniversary. Donors of all blood types are welcome, especially those with type O blood.

The Red Cross x Metallica Blood Drive will be held in the Uncas Ballroom on Wednesday, Nov. 18, Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026. Everyone who comes to give will receive an exclusive Red Cross x Metallica T-shirt designed by Squindo, while supplies last.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 18 and Nov. 20, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 21. The ballroom is at 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd. in Uncasville. The Red Cross notes that the last two months of the year can be hard for donors who are juggling packed schedules and holiday plans.

“This partnership demonstrates the incredible difference people can make when they come together for a meaningful cause,” said Richard Branigan, CEO of the American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “We look forward to welcoming donors to Mohegan Sun, celebrating the generosity of the Metallica Family and helping save lives through blood donation.”

Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun, said the resort is honored to host the continuation of the band’s blood drive campaign. “This is a unique opportunity to celebrate the excitement surrounding Metallica’s upcoming concerts while also supporting such an impactful cause,” he said.

To make an appointment, visit rcblood.org/BleedMetallica, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or use the Blood Donor App. A blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification is required at check-in. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health. They must also be 17 in most states, or 16 with parental consent where state law allows. Donors 18 and younger must also meet certain height and weight requirements.

The collaboration began in April 2025, when the Red Cross and Metallica held blood drives at select stops on the U.S. leg of the M72 Tour. It expanded nationwide through the Give Where You Live campaign and collected more than 25,000 donations across the country. About 93,000 donations were collected worldwide as the band encouraged giving at overseas stops.

Blood and platelet donors can save time by using RapidPass to complete the pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online on the day of their donation. Instructions are available at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or in the Blood Donor App.
