Girl Scouts of Connecticut brings cookie booths to polling sites with a chance to win free cookies for a year

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is setting up cookie booths at polling sites and local businesses statewide for Election Week, and one Connecticut resident will win free Girl Scout Cookies for a year. The new Cast Your Vote for Cookies Sweepstakes runs Oct. 30 through Nov. 8.

More than 300 booths will be open from Friday, Oct. 30, through Sunday, Nov. 8. The winner will receive 52 packages of cookies, one for every week of the year.

To enter, visit a participating cookie booth during that window and scan the QR code shared by Girl Scouts. No purchase is necessary, and official rules are available on the organization’s website.

Eight cookies are on the ballot this year: Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, Lemon-Ups, Adventurefuls and Exploremores. Exploremores is the newest, a rocky road ice cream-inspired sandwich cookie filled with chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond-flavored crème. All cookies are $6 per package.

Girl Scouts are also selling through direct sales to friends and family, neighborhood walks with their troops, and virtual booths on social media. Many are taking part in Cookies for Heroes, also known as the Gift of Caring Service Project. Customers can buy packages that are delivered to active military members, veterans, and local community heroes, and more than 93,000 packages were sold for the cause last year.

“The Girl Scout Cookie Program is our most popular initiative to date and the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world,” said Elicia Pegues Spearman, CEO of Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “What’s more, all proceeds from cookie sales remain local and help fund life-changing programs, experiences, and learning all year long, including summer camp experiences for thousands of Girl Scouts.”

Booth locations are listed at gsofct.org. Girl Scouts of Connecticut sold almost 1.6 million packages of cookies last season.

Girl Scouts has been building girls of courage, confidence, and character for more than 114 years. Today, more than 15,000 girls across Connecticut take part in Girl Scout experiences supported by close to 4,000 volunteers.
