Goodspeed Musicals announces 2027 season

Goodspeed Musicals announced its 2027 mainstage season at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, marking a return to a three-production schedule for the first time since 2019. The upcoming lineup includes Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, the Huey Lewis and The News jukebox musical The Heart of Rock and Roll, and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I.
The season opens with Into the Woods, directed by Rob Ruggiero, running from April 30 through July 4. The Heart of Rock and Roll, featuring a book by Jonathan A. Abrams and story by Tyler Mitchell and Abrams, follows from July 16 through Sept. 19. The year concludes with The King and I, directed by Michael Fling and choreographed by Lainie Sakakura, playing from Oct. 1 through Dec. 5.
Specific show dates span the spring, summer, and fall, with Into the Woods taking the late spring to early summer slot. The Heart of Rock and Roll anchors the mid-to-late summer schedule, while The King and I runs through late autumn into early December.
Season ticket packages for all three productions start at $90 and are currently available through the venue box office or online. Goodspeed memberships for the 2027 season are also available, while single tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 28, 2027.

Into the Woods
April 30 – July 4
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by James Lapine
Music Direction by Adam Souza
Directed by Rob Ruggiero
Fairy tales aren’t always what they seem… When the Baker and his Wife wish for a child, they discover that the Witch’s curse stands in their way. To break it, they venture into the woods, crossing paths with Cinderella, Jack (of beanstalk fame), Little Red Riding Hood and a host of colorful characters. After stories intertwine and wishes come true, things take an unexpected turn. With a brilliant score by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods is a clever, captivating look beyond Happily Ever After.

He misses the guitar he ditched for the corporate ladder. They both get a second shot at their dreams and must decide “If This Is It” for their careers—or if “The Power of Love” wins. Jam-packed with Huey Lewis megahits like “Workin’ For A Livin’,” “Stuck With You,” and “Hip to Be Square,” it’s a big-hearted rom-com bursting with energy and nostalgic fun.
