The Westport Country Playhouse will present a staged reading of Peter Pan as part of its Script in Hand Junior playreading series on Saturday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. The production, written by J. M. Barrie and adapted by Brian Feehan, will take place in the Lucille Lortel White Barn Center adjacent to the playhouse.

The family-friendly performance features the story of Peter, Wendy, Tinker Bell, and Captain Hook traveling to Neverland. The Script in Hand Junior series offers a platform for youth performers to present stories without elaborate sets or costumes, relying instead on scripts, vocals, and imagination.

The cast is comprised of local middle and high school students. The young actors participating in the production are Alice DiMenna, Audrey Cook, Jayden Santos, Bridget Brennan, Cathy O’Toole, Colin Chudd, Gemma Wiener, Jack Fibiger, Jasper Leven, Joey Vazquez, Lua Gaspar, Maël Chevrier, and Ryan Duffy.

Stacie Morgain Lewis will direct the staged reading. Lewis is an actress, singer, songwriter, and teacher who previously performed at the Westport Country Playhouse in original Script in Hand playreadings and 2MotherPluckers. Her background includes playing Glinda in the Chicago production of Wicked, alongside Broadway appearances in Sunday in the Park with George, Urinetown, and Titanic.

Lewis also co-wrote the children’s album Harmonize and created the arts enrichment program Harmonize Kidz. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ithaca College and has performed concerts in partnership with organizations including Sandy Hook Promise, Melissa and Doug, Bank Street School for Children, and Broadway Inspirational Voices.

Tickets for the performance cost $20 for general admission, and seating is unreserved and limited. The production is recommended for audience members aged eight and up, with a running time of approximately one hour and no intermission.
