Weston History and Culture Center opens for summer tours and exhibits

The Weston History and Culture Center is hosting summer hours every Thursday in July and August from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The center will also open on select Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., including July 26, August 2, and August 30, 2026. Visitors can access guided tours, interactive exhibits, and an outdoor sculpture walk.

Admission tickets are available at the door for purchase. Members and children aged 5 and under receive free entry. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for children aged 6 and older.

The new interactive exhibit, titled Weston at Work, is located inside the historic Coley Barn. Visitors can participate in hands-on activities such as carding wool, weaving on a loom, and using a rope-and-pulley system to lift a hay bale. The display includes Bradley Axe tools, historic photographs, and artifacts that highlight the contributions of immigrant communities, people of African descent, women, and children.

Guided tours are available at the Coley House, a historic house museum interpreting life on the home front during World War II. The immersive setting allows young visitors to interact with a rotary phone, a vintage typewriter, and 1940s toys and games.

The Visitor’s Center features two exhibitions focused on the American Revolution. The first, Sarah Treadwell: Connecticut Mom, American Patriot, honors the local wartime contributions of women. The second exhibition, Local Patriots and Loyalists of the American Revolution, examines divided families across Weston, Fairfield, Wilton, Norwalk, and Ridgefield.

The center is also displaying artwork by Weston Middle School eighth-grade students to mark the 250th birthday of America. The showcase includes oil paintings depicting local history during the 1700s and early 1800s, alongside picture books explaining the Declaration of Independence.

Visitors can walk through the Daniel E. Offutt III Sculpture Garden, which features outdoor works by the former Weston resident, philanthropist, and artist.

The Weston History and Culture Center is located at 104 Weston Road, with parking and the entrance situated on High Acre Road. The Weston at Work exhibit received funding from the Daniel E. Offutt III Charitable Trust, the Twenty-Seven Foundation, CT Humanities, the Elizabeth Raymond Ambler Trust, the Kiwanis Club of Weston, and private donors. The Sarah Treadwell exhibition was funded in part by a grant from CT Humanities.
