Free family events headline Barnum Festival finale in Bridgeport this June

The Barnum Festival has announced the finale schedule for its annual June celebration, featuring four free community events across Bridgeport. The upcoming lineup includes the Wing Ding Parade, the Skyblast Fireworks, a Community Health Fair, and the signature Great Street Parade. Proceeds from the festival infrastructure support local community activities and academic scholarships.

The final run of events begins on Saturday, June 20, with the Wing Ding Parade at the Beardsley Zoo. Registration opens at 9:00am, and the parade starts at 10:00am. Attendees receive free admission to the zoo until noon. The Bridgeport Elks Lodge #36 is also providing free bicycle helmets while supplies last. The morning includes face painting, balloon animals, music, and food vendors.

The celebration moves to the waterfront on Friday, June 26, for the Barnum Skyblast Fireworks at Seaside Park. Food trucks will open at 6:00pm, followed by live entertainment at 7:00pm. The fireworks display will launch over Long Island Sound at dusk.

On Saturday, June 27, Central High School will host the Community Health Fair from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Sponsored by Hartford HealthCare, the gathering brings together healthcare providers from across the Greater Bridgeport area. The fair will offer free medical screenings, wellness resources, and family programming.

The festival officially concludes on Sunday, June 28, with The Great Street Parade. The signature procession features marching bands, floats, performers, local leaders, and community organizations. The parade kicks off at 11:00am at the intersection of North Avenue, Clinton Avenue, and Brooklawn Avenue. The route travels down North Avenue to Park Avenue, turns right onto Capitol Avenue, and ends at Lincoln Boulevard.
