The Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden is looking for enthusiasts of history and horticulture to join its volunteer program as the National Historic Property prepares for its 2026 season.
The museum will host a New Volunteer Meet & Greet on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. The event will offer a brief history of the site, a tour of the grounds, and an overview of available roles.
Volunteer opportunities include serving as tour guides and shopkeepers, assisting with youth and educational programs, and supporting special events. The site also features “Gertrude’s Gardeners,” an all-volunteer group that maintains the only surviving American garden designed by the renowned English landscape designer Gertrude Jekyll.

The 2026 season officially begins May 1, featuring new exhibits and additions to the collection. The museum’s schedule includes various workshops, open houses, and the “Wine, Cheese, and Art Please!” fundraiser scheduled for May 30.
All volunteers receive specialized training and educational materials. Participants are also invited to join monthly “Friends of the Glebe House” meetings, which include group activities and field trips.
