Westport Country Playhouse to host TV, film acting masterclass for middle schoolers

Middle school students looking to transition from the stage to the screen can learn the nuances of on-camera performance at an upcoming masterclass hosted by the Westport Country Playhouse.

The session, titled “Acting for TV and Film,” will be held Sunday, April 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lucille Lortel White Barn, located adjacent to the Playhouse.

The class will be led by Liz Fye, a professional television and film actor and member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA. The curriculum focuses on the subtle techniques required for camera work, which often differ significantly from the projection required for live theater.

Participants will work on pre-assigned scenes and receive direct feedback, allowing them to practice making adjustments on the spot.

Fye, a graduate of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, holds a variety of credits, including “Law & Order: SVU,” “Blue Bloods” and “As the World Turns.” Her background also includes extensive work in national commercials, voiceovers, and theater productions at the Berkshire Theatre Festival and New York Musical Theater Festival.

The masterclass is open to students in grades 6-8. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants to ensure individualized instruction.
