Ridgefield Theater Barn to host ‘Setting the Table’ storytelling benefit

The Ridgefield Theater Barn will partner with Meals on Wheels of Ridgefield to present a live storytelling event on May 10 centered on the themes of food, memory, and community connection.

The program, “Hear Me Out: Setting the Table,” features six storytellers sharing true, personal accounts in a format inspired by The Moth. The lineup includes three representatives from Meals on Wheels and three members of the local community.

The evening is designed to highlight the mission of Meals on Wheels (MOW) through both narrative and a shared culinary experience. Attendees will be served a dinner prepared by MOW, modeled after the meals provided to the organization’s clients, followed by dessert and a discussion with the performers.

“We are thrilled to co-produce this installment,” said Pamme Jones, executive and artistic director of the Ridgefield Theater Barn. “Our expanded space allows us to serve as a true community arts hub, and we are honored to partner with MOW to highlight the vital work they do.”

The event will be co-emceed by Amanda Gabbard and Peter Bachmann. Bachmann, a veteran storyteller who trained with The Moth’s Bonnie Levison, noted that the partnership aims to share important local stories while demonstrating the tangible impact of food assistance programs.

The “Hear Me Out” series launched earlier this year with a benefit for St. Stephen’s Church. This second installment continues the theater’s shift toward intimate, cabaret-style programming that focuses on authentic live performance.

The event begins at 5 p.m. at the theater’s 37 Halpin Lane location. Tickets are $55 and include the full dinner and dessert. While the theater maintains a bring-your-own beverage policy, refreshments will also be available for purchase at the venue.
