Swedish pop duo Icona Pop will bring their high-energy dance-pop sound to Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, July 4, performing as the opening act for Meghan Trainor’s “The Get In Girl Tour.” The show is one of 33 dates on Trainor’s North American tour, which will take her to major cities including New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Boston.

Icona Pop, consisting of Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, is known worldwide for their platinum hits, explosive performances, and dynamic stage presence. The duo first gained international recognition with their 2012 hit “I Love It,” featuring Charli XCX, which quickly became a global pop anthem. Since then, they have continued to release music that blends catchy pop hooks with electronic beats, energetic performances, and emotionally resonant lyrics.

Their latest single, “Ritual,” featuring Grammy-nominated singer Daya, was released earlier this year. The track is a cathartic dance-pop anthem about self-reclamation and emotional release, anchored by the mantra-like refrain, “This is my ritual, yeah I do it to survive.” Icona Pop said the song reflects a period of personal struggle and growth, inviting fans to connect with music both physically and emotionally.

“‘Ritual’ is about rediscovering yourself and your body,” the duo said in a statement. “The last few years have been challenging, but this song shows how we came through stronger and closer. Performing it live is a way to share that energy with our fans.”

Icona Pop’s Mohegan Sun Arena performance will feature selections from their 2023 full-length album CLUB ROMANTECH, including fan favorites like “Stick Your Tongue Out,” “I Want You” with Galantis, and “Faster.” The duo’s live shows are known for their visual energy, incorporating lighting, movement, and stagecraft to create a fully immersive concert experience.

The July 4 show gives fans a chance to see Icona Pop in a high-energy setting before Trainor takes the stage with her mix of pop hits and fan favorites.
