Godsmack announces ‘Live at Mohegan Sun’ album captured at sold-out Connecticut show

Hard rock band Godsmack will release a new live album recorded during a sold-out concert at Mohegan Sun Arena, capturing a milestone performance in the group’s three-decade career.

Titled Live at Mohegan Sun, the album arrives May 1 via Primary Wave and documents the band’s Oct. 26, 2024, show in Uncasville, where the Massachusetts-based rock group performed to a packed arena crowd.

The release features a career-spanning set that includes fan favorites such as “Surrender,” “Awake,” “Cryin’ Like a Bitch!!,” “Under Your Scars,” “You and I,” and “I Stand Alone.” The band has also released a live version of “When Legends Rise” from the concert as the album’s first single and video.

Frontman Sully Erna told the crowd early in the show that the performance was especially meaningful, reflecting both the band’s long connection to New England audiences and a turning point in its lineup.

The concert marked the final performance of the band’s longtime lineup featuring Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill, and drummer Shannon Larkin after Rombola and Larkin announced plans to retire from touring. Despite the milestone moment, Erna said the show was intended as a celebration rather than an ending.

Formed in the late 1990s, Godsmack has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and scored 27 Top 10 singles, including 13 No. 1 hits on rock charts. The Mohegan Sun performance captures many of those defining songs along with the band’s signature live drum duel segment known as “The Battle of the Drums.”

The concert recording arrives during a busy year for the band. In addition to the live release, Godsmack is marking the 25th anniversary of its breakthrough album Awake with an expanded edition later this year.

The band will also launch the Rise of Rock World Tour this spring with special guests Stone Temple Pilots and Dorothy. The tour begins May 10 in Virginia and will include major festival appearances across North America and Europe.

Available in digital and physical formats, including vinyl, Blu-ray, and CD, Live at Mohegan Sun preserves what Erna described as an emotional and powerful night shared between the band and a hometown-adjacent New England crowd.
