Goodspeed Musicals announces the cast for Jesus Christ Superstar in East Haddam, Connecticut April and May 2026

Goodspeed Musicals will open its 2026 season with the legendary rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar, running April 17 through June 7 at The Goodspeed. The official press opening is scheduled for April 29 at 7:30 p.m.

The musical, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, tells the story of Jesus’ final days through the perspective of Judas, featuring iconic songs including “Superstar” and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him.”

Justin Matthew Sargent, known for Broadway productions such as Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark and Rock of Ages, will star as Jesus. Austin Lesch (Frozen, Something Rotten!) will play Judas, and Stephanie Zaharis will portray Mary. Other principal roles include Deven Kolluri as Pilate, Nicolette Antonia Shin as King Herod, Jamari Darling as Caiaphas, and Kevin Trinio Perdido as Annas.

The ensemble includes Jordan Alexander, Elijah Dawson, Jack Hale, Michael James, Eleni Kontzamanys, Alex Lauren, Kathy Liu, Adam Mandala, Thabitha Moruthane, Mikaela Rada, Matthew Saggiomo, and Garrick Vaughan. Swings for the production are Dakota Hoar and Selena Robinson.

Tatiana Pandiani directs, with choreography by Amy Campbell and music direction by Goodspeed Resident Music Director Adam Souza. Scenic design is by Riccardo Hernández, costume design by Siena Zoë Allen, lighting by Cha See, and sound by Jay Hilton. Wigs, hair, and makeup are by Caitlin Molloy, and Chris Zaccardi serves as production stage manager. Casting is by Paul Hardt/Hardt Casting.

Jesus Christ Superstar is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of LW Entertainment. Marquee producing partners are Mary Loncharich Gaskell, Richard T. Cersosimo & Valerie J. Koif.

Curtain times are Wednesday at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (select 2 p.m. shows); Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 2 p.m. (select 6:30 p.m. shows).
