Grammy-nominated Irish supergroup Cherish the Ladies will bring their 40th-anniversary tour to Edmond Town Hall on Friday, March 6, at 6 p.m., offering a rare opportunity for local audiences to experience the internationally acclaimed ensemble live.

Formed to spotlight women in a traditionally male-dominated genre, Cherish the Ladies has spent four decades redefining Irish traditional music. The group has released 18 albums, performed worldwide including at the White House and the Olympics, and was featured in the Emmy-winning PBS special An Irish Homecoming. Their contributions to the arts were recognized when a Bronx street was named “Joanie Madden and Cherish the Ladies Way.”

Led by National Heritage Fellowship recipient Joanie Madden, the current touring lineup includes Mary Coogan (guitar), Mirella Murray (accordion), Nollaig Casey (fiddle), Kate Purcell (lead vocals, guitar), and Hannah Collins (piano, concertina), along with step dancers Tyler Schwartz, Nathan Pilatzke, and Joe Harrison. The performance blends instrumental virtuosity, vocal brilliance, storytelling, and championship-level dance.

“It’s extraordinary to see how this music continues to unite audiences everywhere we go,” Madden said. “When we began, we simply wanted to honor the tradition. Forty years later, we’re still sharing that spirit with communities like Newtown.”

Tickets start at $40 and can be purchased at Eventvesta or at the venue. Additional experiences, such as meet-and-greets, are listed on the official ticket page.

The performance adds a milestone event to Newtown’s cultural calendar, allowing audiences to celebrate one of the most influential Celtic ensembles of the modern era.
