Fairfield County moms bring musical comedy ‘2Motherpluckers’ to Westport

Westport Country Playhouse will present “2Motherpluckers, a Musical,” a comedic and heartfelt journey through motherhood, on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. The show, created and performed by Fairfield County-based moms Julie Foldesi and Stacie Morgain Lewis, combines original songs, storytelling, and humor to explore the ups, downs, and total “WTF” moments of parenting.

Directed by Keira Naughton, the two-woman production has Foldesi and Lewis playing multiple characters, allowing audiences to experience the chaos, joy, and absurdities of everyday family life. The musical began in Westport Country Playhouse’s Barnstormers series and has now moved to the main stage for a wider audience.

Mark Shanahan, artistic director of the Playhouse, said the musical is “laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching,” adding that it captures not only the challenges of parenthood but also the friendships and support systems that sustain moms and dads. “Julie and Stacie are powerhouse artists, and watching them transform into so many characters while performing their original music is nothing short of exhilarating,” he said.

Both performers bring extensive theater experience to the show. Foldesi has appeared on Broadway in productions such as “Sunday in the Park with George” and “Disney’s Newsies,” as well as national tours of “Little Women” and “101 Dalmatians.” Lewis has performed on Broadway in “Wicked” and “Sunday in the Park with George,” and has created the children’s music album “Harmonize” and the arts enrichment program Harmonize Kidz, which is implemented in schools throughout the tri-state area.

Broadway star Kelli O’Hara praised the show, saying it is “like the Indigo Girls meets Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.” Tickets are $40 for the 90-minute production, which has no intermission. The musical offers a mix of comedy, song, and relatable parent-life storytelling, making it a must-see for local families, theater enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates a good laugh about the realities of raising kids.
