Milford Public Library announces February schedule of films, cultural events

The Milford Public Library (57 New Haven Ave, Milford, CT 06460) has announced a full slate of programs for February, featuring film screenings, cultural celebrations, wellness events, and community gatherings for all ages.

The library’s popular Tuesday Movie Matinees continue at 2 p.m. with Hidden Figures on Feb. 10 and King Richard on Feb. 24. Both films are rated PG or PG-13 and will be shown in full.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m., the library will host “Let’s Get Together,” an open mic night led by Milford Poet Laureate Elaine Nadal. The event invites singers, musicians, and poets to perform or attend as audience members. Performers must pre-register.

The Caring Network, a grief support group facilitated by Bridges Healthcare, will meet Monday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m. The program offers a supportive environment for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one and is led by a professional counselor.

Film enthusiasts can attend A Night at the Oscars on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 p.m., hosted by journalist and film blogger Joe Meyers. The discussion will explore the history of the Academy Awards, highlight the 2026 nominations, and include audience debate over nominees and notable snubs.

As part of American Heart Month, the library will host a Heart Health Month Mini-Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event includes free blood pressure screenings, stroke risk assessments, and nutrition consultations with staff from the Milford Health Department.

Cultural programming continues Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m., with a Chinese New Year celebration featuring the Li-Garden Dance Company. The performance marks the Year of the Horse and includes traditional dance, calligraphy demonstrations, and audience participation. Registration is required.

Looking ahead, the library will host a Milford Makers Meet-Up and Craft Supply Swap on Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m., inviting crafters to exchange supplies and connect with fellow creatives.
