Gunn Museum to host Zoom lecture on revolutionary rhetoric as part of America’s 250 Series

The Gunn Memorial Library and Museum (5 Wykeham Rd, Washington, CT 06793) will present a virtual lecture examining the language and ideas that fueled the American Revolution as part of its America’s 250th Anniversary Series.
The Zoom lecture, “The Language of Freedom — How Revolutionary Rhetoric Inspired a Nation,” will take place Monday, March 16, at 6 p.m. and will be presented by historian and author John Cilio.
The program explores how American colonists came to unite in opposition to British rule, focusing on the rhetoric that helped inspire nearly two million people across the colonies to support independence. Cilio will examine the influence of the printing press, churches, and taverns in spreading revolutionary ideas and educating colonists about the growing movement.

Advance registration is required to receive the Zoom login information and may be completed through the Gunn Memorial Library and Museum website.
