Morningside
Morningside is an indie folk-rock band from Westport, Connecticut, formed by longtime friends Bobby Schlesinger (vocals), Matt Stine (guitar), Nick Huber (bass), and Sean Spillman (keys), with Ian Walters joining on drums in early 2024.
Built on a shared devotion to storytelling, Morningside’s songs live in the quiet space between reflection and release. Their writing favors emotional clarity over spectacle — intimate, searching lyrics carried by warm guitars, drifting keys, and the slow-burn pull of the coastal New England town that shaped them. The result is a sound that feels lived-in and restless, grounded in folk tradition yet unafraid to swell into something larger.
Recognized as one of Connecticut’s Top 12 Rising Bands for 2025 by 98.7 WNLC, Big 110.9, 97.7 WCTY and i98.3, Morningside has already surpassed 100,000 streams across their releases. Their debut album, Answers, arrives February 6, 2026 via Pilot Light Records in association with Virgin Music Group, offering a collection centered on relationship dynamics, family, grief, and self-exploration, that resonates long after the last note.

Fantastic Cat
They said it couldn’t be done. Four different songwriters joining forces to form a single band? There was simply no precedent (outside of CSNY, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, The Highwaymen, Monsters of Folk, etc). And yet Fantastic Cat did it anyway, defying the odds and teaming up to record their highly unanticipated 2022 debut, The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “a wildly satisfying collection of folk-rock, country, Americana, and good old rock & roll” that offers “equal doses of Dylan and Springsteen,” the album earned the vocal-trading, instrument-swapping collective their national TV debut, sold-out headline dates around the US and Europe, festival performances everywhere from Sundance to Take Root, and a song in the Showtime series Tulsa King. In 2023, the unlikely four-piece teamed up with all-star producer Butch Walker for a 50th anniversary take on Wings’ “Band On The Run,” which prompted even more love from Rolling Stone, who dubbed them “the Harlem Globetrotters of Americana.”
Individually, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. Paste declared Don DiLego’s latest album a “stunner.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s new record “the sleeper album of the year” and praised Mike Montali’s band, Hollis Brown, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.” Collectively, though, the four transcend their respective roots, emerging as velvet-clad rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts.
They say some cats are born fantastic; others have fantasy thrust upon them. These guys are somewhere in the middle.

Thee Sinseers
Thee Sinseers hail straight from East L.A., carrying a sound steeped in classic soul while pushing boldly into the present. Led by multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter Joseph Quiñones, the band blends lush harmonies, a deep-pocket rhythm section, and a full brass lineup into something that feels both timeless and alive.
As part of a tight-knit community of musicians redefining modern soul, Thee Sinseers bridge nostalgia and innovation — channeling the warmth of vintage recordings with the urgency of now. Their music lives in the sweet spot where heartbreak, hope, and groove meet, wrapped in arrangements that glow with sincerity and craft.
Signed to Colemine Records, the band first turned heads with early singles “It Was Only A Dream” and “I Don’t Mind”, leading to their full-length debut Sinseerly Yours (2024). Their song “Seems Like” also appeared on Presenting Penrose Records, the inaugural compilation from Daptone’s Penrose imprint — a fitting home for their soul-rich sound.
With songs featured in film (Self Reliance) and television (Riverdale), and performances lighting up soul strongholds across the country, Thee Sinseers are on the road with love in their hearts and grooves in their pockets — bringing their modern take on classic soul wherever they go.
The Altons
How would you characterize the sound of Southeast LA? The Altons, natives of the region, combine dust kicked up from backyard parties with evening Art Laboe listening sessions, evoking a sound that veers far from the shadows.
The Altons curate a ballad of retro-indie-soul that has captivated local audiences for several years, quickly driving them to become a staple of the scene.
Their distinct sound caught the attention of Daptone Records Co-founder Gabe Roth, who was in the process of starting Penrose Records. Penrose became a subsidiary label to Daptone to highlight the emerging soul-scene growing in Southern California, where The Altons fit perfectly. Their Penrose debut “When You Go (That’s When You’ll Know)” was KCRW’s Today’s Top Tune, and their most recent single “Tangled Up In You” has been featured on “Soulection Radio.”
