Stamford Downtown Fire & Ice Winter Festival canceled due to extreme cold weather

Stamford Downtown has made the difficult decision to cancel the Fire & Ice Winter Festival scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Columbus Park, Stamford Downtown, due to extreme cold temperatures forecasted for the area. The safety and comfort of families, visitors, performers, artists, vendors, and staff is our top priority. With dangerously low temperatures predicted, conditions are not suitable for an outdoor community event of this scale.

The good news: while the festival itself has been canceled, more than ten ice sculptures will still be installed in Columbus Park, allowing residents, workers, and visitors to safely enjoy the artwork throughout the weekend and beyond (until they melt!). Guests are encouraged to view the sculptures at their leisure and dine at the surrounding restaurants. Fire & Ice has become a beloved winter tradition, and Stamford Downtown looks forward to welcoming the community back for future events under safer conditions. We appreciate the public’s understanding and continued support.
