Stamford Downtown debuts public video art installation on Ferguson Library façade

Stamford Downtown has launched a new temporary public art initiative with the debut of Endless Color, an immersive video projection by Stamford-based artist Holly Danger now illuminating the east façade of the Ferguson Library.

The installation, created in partnership with The Ferguson Library, transforms the landmark building at 1 Public Library Plaza into a large-scale animated canvas visible from Bedford and Broad streets. The project continues Stamford Downtown’s efforts to enhance the city’s urban core through public art, cultural engagement and placemaking.

Endless Color is presented as a seamless 10-minute loop showcasing Danger’s most vibrant video work. Inspired by nature, the piece blends photography, video, drawing and layered animation into a flowing collage of color and movement. Designed to uplift viewers during the winter months, the projection offers a moment of calm and visual warmth in the midst of the season’s cold and darkness.

“Endless Color highlights the creativity of Holly Danger while adding artwork to Bedford Street and highlighting the Ferguson Library,” said Michael Moore, president of Stamford Downtown. “We believe in the power of art to foster personal connection and to brand Downtown as a hub for culture and creativity.”

Danger’s work begins with footage captured in natural settings, which she transforms into abstract visual environments intended to complement architecture and evoke emotional response. The slow, fluid transitions of the projection invite passersby to pause and experience a brief sense of reflection in their daily routines.

“My mission as an artist is to project light into the world,” Danger said. “When we ignite our light from within, it illuminates everything and everyone around us.”

Her installations have been exhibited internationally at institutions including The Bruce Museum, the Museum of the Moving Image and the K Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Ferguson Library’s east elevation — measuring 39 feet by 64 feet — was selected for its architectural prominence and visibility, making it an ideal canvas for the public artwork. Stamford Downtown coordinated the project to ensure the installation respects the building’s historic character, neighborhood lighting conditions and public safety considerations.

The projection was installed Jan. 7 and will run nightly through March 7, visible from 5 to 10 p.m. The winter-long installation invites residents and visitors alike to experience Stamford’s downtown landscape in a new and luminous way.
