Paul Anka to bring seven decades of hits to Mohegan Sun Arena on April 17

Legendary vocalist, songwriter, and entertainer Paul Anka will take the stage at Mohegan Sun Arena for a special performance on Friday, April 17th at 7:30 p.m. The celebrated performer, whose career has spanned more than 70 years, continues to captivate audiences with timeless classics, dynamic showmanship, and a musical legacy that has shaped generations. Concertgoers can look forward to live performances of beloved hits including “Diana,” “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” and the iconic anthem “My Way.”

Tickets go on sale Friday, November 21st at 10:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster.com. Beginning Saturday, November 22nd, tickets will also be offered at the Mohegan Sun Box Office while supplies last.

Anka’s extraordinary journey in music began early. He sang in a choir, studied piano, and even sharpened his writing skills through journalism courses while working as a cub reporter at the Ottawa Citizen. By the age of 13, he formed his first vocal group, the Bobbysoxers, and was already performing anywhere he could secure stage time, driving himself across the river to Quebec for local amateur nights.

His talent soon launched him onto the road with the “Cavalcade of Stars,” where he shared stages with heavy-hitters like Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Frankie Lymon, and Chuck Berry. Before long, he became the youngest entertainer ever to perform at the famed Copacabana.

A gifted songwriter as well as a vocalist, Anka penned hits for Connie Francis, Lesley Gore, and Buddy Holly, including Holly’s final recording, “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore.” He wrote the Academy Award-nominated theme for the 1962 film The Longest Day, in which he also starred, and composed the iconic theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, the longest-running theme in television history.

His achievements continued across the decades with hits such as “Hold Me ‘Til the Morning Comes,” a charting duet with Peter Cetera, and the Spanish-language album Amigos in 1996. His 1998 release Body of Work included collaborations with Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Tom Jones, and his daughter Anthea Anka. In 2009, it was revealed that Anka co-wrote Michael Jackson’s posthumous worldwide No. 1 hit “This Is It,” further cementing his status among the most influential and prolific songwriters in modern music.

In 2013, Anka released his New York Times bestselling autobiography My Way, chronicling his evolution as an entertainer, actor, and songwriter. Five years later, his work reached new generations through “Don’t Matter to Me,” a collaboration featuring Michael Jackson and Drake that appeared on Drake’s Scorpion, earning more than 400 million downloads and landing in Billboard’s Top 10.

Now 81, Anka continues to write, record, and tour. His most recent albums, Making Memories (2021) and Sessions(2022), offer both newly written songs and fresh takes on signature classics. The records include “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” with Olivia Newton-John, one of her final recorded performances, and a sweeping reimagining of “My Way” featuring Michael Bublé and Andrea Bocelli.
