800 participants expected at Saturday’s Hot COCO 5K to support adults with disabilities

The 17^th annual Hot COCO 5K, 1 Mile Walk & Kids Fun Run takes place next Saturday, November 8 in Cheshire. The scenic 5K course begins at The Norton School and travels the historic Farmington Canal Line. The 1-mile walk route is an out-and-back through Cheshire’s residential neighborhoods. The Kids Half Mile Fun Run starts at 10:00am and is followed by the 5K/walk at 10:10am.

The race will offer a range of exciting highlights, including high-quality technical running shirts, a lively post-race celebration with entertainment, food, beverages, music, and activities for kids. Participants can also look forward to an awards ceremony and, of course, hot cocoa to enjoy after the race!

The race benefits Abilities Without Boundaries (AWB), a non-profit organization based in Cheshire. AWB provides adults living with disabilities with the freedom and opportunity to succeed in social and vocational pursuits within a safe, nurturing environment. Through employment partnerships, AWB works to connect individuals with local businesses, fostering workplace diversity and directly contributing to the local community.

Dr. Lloyd Saberski, Board Member of Abilities Without Boundaries and Chairman of the Hot COCO 5K, emphasizes that while the race serves as a vital fundraiser, it also plays a much broader role in supporting the community.

The race not only increases visibility for our organization, but also helps us connect with potential job opportunities and funding support to continue empowering our participants.”
