Connecticut anglers gear up for 43rd annual WICC Surfside Hotel Greatest Bluefish Tournament starting August 23

The WICC Surfside Hotel Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth will kick off at 12:01am on Saturday, August 23^rd throughout Long Island Sound. With the increasing popularity of fishing and the Tournament, all partners are excited to return for the 43rd year that now includes The Race in boundaries. For those fishing out East, The Race is the opening to Block Island Sound and expands this year’s Tournament boundaries. The grand prize of $25,000 for the heaviest fish caught has recreational fishers and angling experts gearing up to cast their lines.

The annual Tournament offers anglers over $40,000 in cash prizes. The grand prize of $25,000 goes to the angler with the heaviest bluefish caught, 2nd place takes home $7,500 and 3rd place gets $2,500. In addition, there are cash prizes for 4th through 20th place. Plus, a ‘port prize’ for the heaviest fish caught at each participating weigh-in station in Connecticut and New York.

Young anglers have special prizing! For the third year there is a $1,000 cash prize for the heaviest fish caught by an angler under eighteen. As well as $100 gift card prizes for the 2nd and 3rd place winners in the under eighteen categories.
