Connecticut’s own Goose releases gritty new single “Royal” ahead of major fall tour

Connecticut-based rock band Goose has released their electrifying new single, “Royal,” out today via No Coincidence Records. Blending tight grooves with a retro 70s rock sensibility, the track introduces listeners to Royal, a restless, ambitious musician whose story unfolds through gritty guitar riffs and dynamic, funk-infused rhythms. Featuring dirty guitar licks, playful Wurlitzer flourishes, and a searing solo from frontman Rick Mitarotonda, “Royal” captures the high-octane, genre-blending style that has become Goose’s signature.

The single arrives on the heels of Goose’s triumphant, sold-out debut at Madison Square Garden, a landmark moment for a band that began in the basements of Connecticut just over a decade ago. Their rise from local venues to headlining the nation’s top stages is a testament to their improvisational prowess, DIY spirit, and fiercely loyal fan base.

Goose – composed of Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Peter Anspach (vocals, keys, guitar), Trevor Weekz (bass), and Cotter Ellis (vocals, drums) – is celebrated for their expansive live shows and adventurous musicianship. Their sound fuses indie rock hooks with sprawling improvisation and deep rhythmic foundations, a blend that continues to evolve with each release and performance.

Next up, the band hits the road with a full slate of headline dates, festival appearances, and standout performances, including an August 31 slot at The Gorge Amphitheatre as special guests of the Dave Matthews Band. Their 12th annual Goosemas holiday celebration is set for December 12–13 at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, RI, with $1 from every ticket sold benefiting Backline, a nonprofit supporting mental health resources for music industry professionals.
