Downtown Milford Farmers Market launches bold 2025 rebrand centering on children to inspire generational growth

Just three Saturdays into the 2025 season, the Downtown Milford Farmers Market is already buzzing with purpose. On June 7, opening day delivered more than fresh produce — it brought a wave of energy, sold-out vendors, and a powerful sense of community. Families reconnected, neighbors gathered, and children jumped into the action — some even helping run their families’ booths.

Since its founding in 2005, the market has grown into a vibrant community hub. In 2012, its mission began to evolve, highlighting the stories and livelihoods of the community and fostering a space where generations could grow together through shared values.

That evolution laid the foundation for a bold new strategic rebrand in 2025: centering on inspiring the younger generations as the heart of its mission. Rooted in the belief that inspiring the youngest generation leads to stronger, more connected communities, the rebrand formalizes a mission quietly taking shape for years.

To support this shift, research was conducted through many farmers markets throughout Connecticut. While many promote family- and children-focused missions or have youth entrepreneurship or agricultural programs, none explicitly center their mission on inspiring children for generational growth. This confirmed that Downtown Milford Farmers Market’s evolving mission is not only bold — it’s one of a kind.

This mission was further elevated this year through an exciting partnership with Makayla, owner of The Giggling Pig of Milford. Driven by her passion for youth engagement, she proposed the Piglets Market — a 20-week program for children ages 3–12 to explore the market and learn about agriculture through hands-on activities. In just two weeks, over 150 children have signed up.

With this new mission, the Downtown Milford Farmers Market becomes Connecticut’s only seasonal market centered on inspiring the youngest generation as the heart of its mission — planting seeds of innovation, connection, and lifelong values.
