Top golfers confirmed for 2025 Travelers Championship field

The Travelers Championship announced its current player field for the 2025 tournament, which is a PGA TOUR Signature Event and will feature Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1-ranked player in the world and the tournament’s defending champion. This year’s event will be held June 16-22 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The final field list will be available after the completion of the U.S. Open.
In addition to Scheffler, every player in the top 15 of the current Official World Golf Ranking eligible to play – and 45 of the top 50 – has committed to compete. That includes Rory McIlroy (No. 2), who completed the career Grand Slam by winning the Masters this year and also won THE PLAYERS Championship; Xander Schauffele (No. 3), the 2022 Travelers Championship winner and the reigning Open Championship winner; Collin Morikawa (No. 4); Justin Thomas (No. 5); Ludvig Åberg (No. 6); Russell Henley (No. 7); Sepp Straka (No. 8); and Hideki Matsuyama (No. 9).
“This is an incredible field of world-class PGA TOUR players coming to Connecticut next week, and the competition is going to be something golf fans won’t want to miss,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers. “Thanks to the dedication and hard work of countless people and the support from the best fans on TOUR, the Travelers Championship has become a premier week in golf that continues to have a significant impact on numerous worthy charities throughout the region. We’re looking forward to another great tournament.”
As a Signature Event, players must qualify for the Travelers Championship based on the following performance criteria, ensuring the participation of 72 of the TOUR’s best players:
Top 50 players from the 2024 PGA TOUR FedExCup standings.
Aon Next 10 – Top 10 players from the 2025 PGA TOUR FedExCup standings who did not finish in the top 50 of the 2024 FedExCup standings, through the U.S. Open.
Aon Swing 5 – Top 5 players who accumulated the most FedExCup points from three tournaments – Myrtle Beach Classic, Charles Schwab Challenge and RBC Canadian Open – leading into the Travelers Championship.
Players who win a full-points PGA TOUR tournament during the 2025 season.
PGA TOUR members in the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking, not exempt via a higher category, through the U.S. Open.
“Knowing that these players weren’t required to play here but are choosing to do so is a testament to everyone who cares about this event,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “The strength of this player field will make for an unforgettable tournament.”
With the U.S. Open scheduled to conclude on Sunday, the final Travelers Championship player field is subject to change. Sponsor’s exemptions will be announced on Monday, once the final field is set through performance categories. There are five past winners of the Travelers Championship expected to compete: Scottie Scheffler, Keegan Bradley (2023), Xander Schauffele, Harris English (2021) and Jordan Spieth (2017).
