New Science Journal Feature
A cover article co-authored by one of our colleagues has just been published in Science, one of the world’s most prestigious scientific journals. The study, led by Lauren Wilson (now at Princeton), reveals that birds have been nesting in the Arctic Circle for nearly 73 million years. This extraordinary discovery, based on newly uncovered fossils, is already capturing national media attention for its insights into prehistoric bird behavior and climate patterns.

Upcoming Exhibition: Jeremy Frey: Woven
June 5–September 7
Changing Art Gallery, Bruce Museum
Opening this week, Jeremy Frey: Woven is a major retrospective celebrating more than two decades of work by Passamaquoddy basket maker Jeremy Frey. The exhibition features over fifty works created with natural materials like sweetgrass and black ash. Frey’s baskets reflect both deep cultural heritage and contemporary artistic innovation, offering visitors a rare look at the intersections of tradition, ecology, and design.

Bruce After Hours: Summer Solstice Celebration
Saturday, June 21, 6–8 pm
Celebrate the longest day of the year at the Bruce Museum’s Summer Solstice event. The evening includes extended gallery hours, food trucks, solstice-themed art and science activities, and live performances throughout the museum.
Featured guests include:
- Rakefet Krochmal, multidisciplinary artist and children’s book author
- Shlomit Oren, somatic and expressive arts therapist
- The Quarantined Quartet, a family guitar ensemble blending flamenco and world music
Admission is $30 for non-members and $24 for members.
