Weston author Heather Pemberton’s debut thriller, HIDDEN BELOW blends local history with suspense. Set in a fictionalized version of Weston, the novel follows journalist Laney Brooks as she investigates mysterious fires threatening historic homes connected to a village buried beneath the local reservoir – mirroring the real-life creation of Saugatuck Reservoir. Pemberton weaves familiar local landmarks into a tense narrative of buried secrets and present-day danger.
Stop by as early as 1pm on April 27th to view the new exhibit, “Images of a Forgotten Village: Valley Forge” and learn more about the village that inspired HIDDEN BELOW. Late 19th century images produced from glass plate negatives capture the people and places before the building of the Saugatuck Reservoir in the late 1930s. View images and video of the building of the Samuel Senior Dam and the transformation of the area. Modern-day photos captured by members of the Weston Library Photography Club explore the only clues left behind from this small, forgotten village. After opening day, “Images of a Forgotten Village: Valley Forge” is on view during the Weston History & Culture Center’s public open hours: Thursdays from 1pm – 4pm and the first and last Sunday of each month: 1pm – 4pm. Closed on Holiday Weekends and Holidays.
