Stamford Downtown Expands Iconic Winter Lighting Program
Stamford Downtown is thrilled to announce the expansion of its popular Downtown Lighting Program, now featuring new locations to further illuminate and enhance the Downtown’s festive atmosphere.
The Stamford Downtown Lighting Program, a signature initiative sponsored by Stamford Downtown Special Services District (Stamford Downtown), brightens the Holiday Season and offers a welcoming glow throughout the cold Winter months. This year’s expansion includes dazzling displays along North State Street between Atlantic and Washington, and Broad Street in front of UConn Stamford, Target and The Asher, making Stamford Downtown’s streetscape more vibrant than ever. Stamford Downtown will also install festoon lighting along Clark Street during the month of January 2025.
Stamford Downtown’s lighting program is produced by the Christmas Lighting Company of Pearl River, New York. The program transforms Stamford Downtown with a spectacular array of lights from mid-November to mid-March. Highlights include:
- 80 street trees adorned with approximately 1,700 lights each along Bedford, Atlantic, Summer, and Main Streets.
- Special installations at Latham and Kiwanis Parks.
- Multi-color displays on two grand oak trees at the Ferguson Library and Columbus Park, with the Columbus Park oak alone featuring 63,000 lights.
- New installations along North State Street – between Atlantic and Washington – and Broad Street at UConn Stamford, Target and The Asher.
- Stamford Downtown will also add festoon lighting along Clark Street leading to the Bell Street Garage in early 2025.
In total, the Winter Lighting Program incorporates nearly 250,000 multi-color and warm-white LED lights, including a striking wall and tree installation of 60 cascading, light rods at Kiwanis Park. By utilizing energy-efficient LED technology, the program significantly reduces energy costs while maintaining its brilliance.
More than just a visual delight, the Winter Lighting Program reflects Stamford Downtown’s commitment to enhancing the Downtown’s appeal and fostering a sense of community. The dazzling displays attract visitors of all ages, making Stamford Downtown a must-visit destination during the winter season.
Stamford Downtown invites residents and visitors alike to experience this magnificent lighting display, which will remain on view until mid-March.
