On Thurs, Nov. 14, UConn School of Fine Arts’ von der Mehden Recital Hall will host world-renowned pianist Fazil Say for the Heilig Memorial Recital at 8 PM, the grand finale of UConn Piano Day. Known for his breathtaking virtuosity and evocative compositions, Say will deliver an unforgettable performance that highlights his acclaimed style and international prominence. Tickets for the evening concert are $10, and UConn students attend for free.

2:00 PM – Piano Masterclass with Andrius Žlabys
4:30 PM – “Improvisation for Pianists” Workshop with Fazil Say
5:30 PM – “The Art of Listening” with Javor Bračić
8:00 PM – Fazil Say Heilig Memorial Recital (Ticketed: $10; free for students
UConn Piano Day events offer a rare opportunity for students, faculty, and the broader community to immerse themselves in a day filled with masterclasses and workshops, designed to deepen appreciation and understanding of piano performance and improvisation. Say’s recital, featuring his unique interpretations and boundary-pushing compositions, is the anticipated highlight of the event, bringing world-class piano to the UConn campus.

Renowned pianist and composer Fazıl Say has touched global audiences for over 25 years with performances known for their profound emotional depth and originality. With over 20 album releases and an extensive repertoire of original compositions—including four symphonies, two oratorios, and numerous solo concertos—Say has won prestigious awards such as the Gramophone Classical Music Award, four ECHO Klassik Awards, and the International Beethoven Prize for his humanitarian contributions. An exclusive Warner Classics artist, he has produced highly praised recordings of Mozart, Beethoven, and his own works, and has collaborated with renowned musicians, performing across esteemed venues like Carnegie Hall and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival
