Greensky Bluegrass
For two decades now, Greensky Bluegrass have been building an empire, brick by brick. They are widely known for their dazzling live performances and relentless touring schedule, but that is only the tip of the complex tale of the five musicians that make up Greensky Bluegrass: Anders Beck [dobro], Michael Arlen Bont [banjo], Dave Bruzza [guitar], Mike Devol [upright bass], and Paul Hoffman [Mandolin]. The five are connected through a deep bond, just as they are seasoned road warriors, they’re a band of brothers who have seen each other through decades of ups and downs, personal and collective highlights, and the moments when life turns it all upside down. These are real people having real experiences. As with traditional bluegrass, they write about their own contemporary day-to-day happenings, emotions, and experiences in the modern world.
The band’s underground die-hard fans pack out venues across the country. They travel in droves and sell out multiple-night show runs at iconic venues like Red Rocks and The Ryman.
“As songwriters and musicians, we have a need for people to be on board, we’re not just regurgitating the same shit,” explains Bruzza.
Hoffman adds, “we aren’t a band all for money. We did it for romantic reasons such as love, catharsis, and because it mattered to us and the listeners. It would be easy to make decisions based on our needs to eat or the desires of others, but that’s not doing it for love. We love what we do, and we’re grateful for the love we receive in return from the people listening.”

Right before the turn of the century, casual jam sessions between a group of friends unassumingly lit the fuse for an insane 25-year ride to follow. Hailing from Western Massachusetts (where the only thing icier than the freeway in winter is the blunt sense of humor shared by the locals), Killswitch Engage — Adam Dutkiewicz [guitar], Joel Stroetzel [guitar], Mike D’Antonio [bass], Justin Foley [drums], and Jesse Leach [vocals] — always stood apart. For as deadly serious as their airtight technical riffing is, they also knew how to have a good time, riling up crowds with uncontainable energy and unpredictable performances. They could bludgeon with the best of them or serve up the kind of sing-along banger you could blast with the windows down. From day one, they naturally appealed to the headbangers, hardcore kids, and heartbroken alike. In 2002, Alive Or Just Breathing sent shockwaves through the culture, landing on Decibel’s “The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.” Generated 3 billion-plus streams, they picked up gold and platinum plaques for The End of Heartache and As Day Light Dies respectively. They received three GRAMMY® Award nominations for “Best Metal Performance” and cracked the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 with a trio of consecutive releases]. 2019’s Atonement represented a critical high watermark with praise from Forbes, Revolver, and NME who christened it “one of the most engaged and exciting records that Killswitch has ever made.” The guys packed houses on headline tours and held their own sharing bills with acts from Iron Maiden, Slipknot, and Slayer to My Chemical Romance, Rise Against, and Coheed & Cambria. Killswitch Engage harness all of their strengths on their ninth full-length LP, This Consequence [Metal Blade Records]. They’ve distilled the hallmarks of their signature sound into a bruising, often brutal, and at times brilliantly bright body of work.

Romance amid approaching armageddon. Life in a snowglobe, a pastoral scene made ever-precarious, teetering on chaos created by the flick of the wrist. Love as an antique, that generations after us will only understand from history books. Fontaines D.C.’s fourth album ROMANCE interrogates amorphous concepts of love and relationships, alienation and identity, fantasy and reality – all building to a central statement that Chatten sings of hauntingly, invitingly, on the opening track: “Maybe romance is a place”.
11 tracks constellate ideas that have been percolating among Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums) since 2021’s No.1 record Skinty Fia and tour with Arctic Monkeys. The record builds upon sonic sensibilities the band started to experiment with on Skinty Fia, now reaching into grungier textures, hip-hop breaks and beats, shoegazey tones and contemporary electronic sounds. It is as indebted to their times listening to Shygirl and Sega Bodega as it is to old Hollywood soundtracks, Korn, Outkast, and A$AP Ferg. The band introduces more assured production skills. ROMANCE’s bones were set in time spent apart, experimenting as individuals across Mexico, the Spanish countryside, and LA, and an intense production period together with Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Blur) in a French chateau.
The album represents a provocative sonic and aesthetic era for the Dublin-made, now London-based band. Released via XL Recordings on 23 August, the James Ford-produced record has been met with an incredible response from fans and critics alike. Selling more than twice as much as their acclaimed 2022 release Skinty Fia in the first week, ROMANCE received a host of five-star plaudits from the likes of NME, The Guardian, and Rolling Stone UK meanwhile songwriting legend Elton John recently declared that they’re “the best band out there at the moment”. With its innovative sound and captivating artistry, ROMANCE cements Fontaines D.C.’s status as “the defining band of their generation” (NME).
A summer of international live shows and festivals has drawn fans deeper into their rapidly expanding universe. After landmark performances on Glastonbury’s Park Stage and at the Reading & Leeds Festival, the band announced their biggest show yet: a now sold-out, 45,000-capacity headline concert at London’s Finsbury Park in August 2025. That same month, they will deliver an equally impressive 26,000-capacity outdoor show at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester. In the meantime, Fontaines D.C. continues their extensive world tour, which will take them across North America, Canada, Europe, the UK, and Ireland throughout 2024, playing multiple sold-out shows.
