Norwalk Symphony announces 85th season
The Norwalk Symphony is excited to unveil its 85th season. It consists of a Main Series of five concerts at
Norwalk’s iconic concert hall plus an intimate Chamber Work Series at the Music Theatre of Connecticut.
“We’re thrilled with our 2024-2025 lineup,” says Music Director Jonathan Yates. “Our season spans multiple
genres and includes exciting collaborations with local artists and cultural institutions. It is a rich blend of
instrumental, vocal, theatre, and dance.”
The Main Series opens in October with a celebration of The Romantics, showcasing Brahms’ Third Symphony,
Verdi’s La Forza del Destino Overture, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, performed by violinist and Norwalk
resident Alexander Markov.
In December, our Holiday Pops returns, featuring collaborations with local arts groups and special guests from
afar (think the North Pole!). Join us for an afternoon celebrating our cherished holiday traditions.
February brings Broadway to life with a robust concert rendition of Oklahoma! In Concert featuring
professional singers and again in collaboration with director Kristin Huffman’s New Paradigm Theatre.
March features our Music for All Ages concert with Norwalk Youth Symphony members performing alongside
their Symphony mentors, a performance by our Concerto Competition winner, and includes Aaron
Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, narrated by NBC News host Craig Melvin.
May concludes our mainstage season with a dynamic performance of Mozart’s Opera Don Giovanni. Director
Chris Mirto returns with a roster of rising opera stars to bring this 18th-century masterpiece to life.
Our new Chamber Work Series at the Music Theatre of Connecticut begins in November with Stravinsky’s A
Soldier’s Tale, a post-World War I dramatic recital featuring diverse instruments, actors, and dancers.
In March, the Series continues with a retelling of the classic tale of Orpheus and Eurydice by contemporary
composer Ricky Ian Gordon. This poignant story of loss will be performed with piano, clarinet, and soprano.
In April, experience Spanish Sizzle with Falla’s El Amor Brujo, presented as an intimate ballet with diverse
musical instruments, singers, and flamenco dancers. The evening will transport you to the vibrant gypsy caves
of Andalusia.
This season, we offer flexible Ticket Packages for our Main Series (Tix – Ticket Sales) with four or five options,
as well as single-performance tickets. Tickets for our Chamber Work Series can be found at
musictheatreofct.com. We look forward to sharing a season filled with delightful experiences.
The Symphony is honored to call the Norwalk Concert Hall our home. With its world-class acoustics and with
the professional musicians from our community, it creates an experience for live music that will inspire
everyone. Our education programs, including (Not) Just for Kids, the Master Class Programs and the Young
Artists Festival and Concerto Competition, are all part of our commitment to reach and inspire young students
in our region along their own musical journeys.
