Five For Fighting returns to Mohegan Sun on Saturday
The Superman (It’s Not Easy) singer will be performing a free show
Five For Fighting, the critically acclaimed band behind hit songs like “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and “100 Years,” will be performing at Mohegan Sun‘s Wolf Den on August 17th. Witness lead singer John Ondrasik’s powerful vocals and emotional lyrics in person for an unforgettable night of music.
Five For Fighting’s (John Ondrasik) latest single, “OK (We Are Not Ok),” demonstrates his unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts and advocating for freedom. With a non-political approach, he tackles global issues, such as the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the October 7th Hamas attacks in Israel, through a humanistic lens. Featuring cover art by ren owned cartoonist Michael Ramirez, this emotionally charged song will leave a lasting impact.
When musician Ondrasik, wrote the popular song “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” in 2001, he probably did not expect it to become a source of hope and strength for the victims of a terrorist attack that occurred 22 years later in a different country. However, as Ondrasik performed the song in Tel Aviv on April 13, in front of worried citizens and families of hostages taken to Gaza from their Israeli homes, its theme of speaking out and being heard resonated deeply.
“As you can imagine, that was very emotional, and that night actually was the night that Iran attacked Israel. And so I had my son with me. And so that was obviously very unnerving and made my wife very unhappy. I performed a concert at MIT for Jewish students with Mattis, Yahoo and Edom, Reichel, 2 huge Israeli stars. And we’re going to continue to go to campuses that have been raging with anti-Semitism and perform for the students and families that have undergone that terrible experience.”
The renowned band Five For Fighting will make a stop at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den on Saturday, August 17, 2024 as part of their current summer tour. In an interview, lead singer Ondrasik emphasized that the show is inclusive for all, stating “It’s a performance for everyone to enjoy” and expressing his fondness for Connecticut.
