Concert Review: UB40 – A Reggae Infused Legend
UB40’s concert at Foxwoods Casino was a night to remember!
The opening act was the talented indie-rock band: Fast Land Animals. They brought a different vibe from what many of the UB40 fans were expecting that night. And while they sounded great, the crowd was clearly waiting for the unmistakable reggae-infused sound of UB40.
When UB40 did take the stage, it was to thunderous applause and fanfare. The band greeted their fans warmly and played the music that all wanted to hear. Fans danced in their seats, in the isles and truly enjoyed themselves. Robin Campbell’s presence was specifically noted when he even encouraged the audience to keep dancing wherever they like – after security asked them to return to their seats. The room turned into a dance floor as people were moved by the rhythmic music of this legendary band.
The highlight was definitely when UB40 played “Red Red Wine.” The whole place erupted into a sing-along. It was one of those magical concert moments where strangers became friends through the power of music.
Throughout the rest of the evening, and their set, UB40 showed why they’re legends in the reggae genre. Their energy and raw talent were amazing, and their stage presence was impressive. While many members of the original band have come and gone, the remaining and new members sounded amazing to all within earshot.
