Review: Sound on Sound 2023
Sound on Sound brought an amazing experience to Bridgeport, including bringing John Mayer back home
The second annual Sound on Sound Music Festival landed in Bridgeport this month with lots of rain, and mud, but also amazing music. While not exactly what the festival organizers had planned for, they pulled off an amazing festival and rolled with the punches thrown at them by Mother Nature – all in the name of great music from great bands and to a very ecstatic audience. Despite the muddy Saturday grounds, the festival provided a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for music enthusiasts of all ages.
The lineup was an eclectic mix of established artists and emerging talents, showcasing a diverse range of genres from rock and indie groups. The carefully curated acts ensured there was something for everyone, and it was refreshing to discover new artists while enjoying the familiar favorites. Headlining was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer, Alanis Morissette, Hozier, Lord Huron, and even the Gin Blossoms – plus eleven other bands over the two-day festival. There was something for everyone.
The singular large stage that rotated between acts was a vast improvement to last year’s dueling stages. It allowed attendees to easily catch every performance without having to travel between stages. The sound quality was exceptional, immersing the audience in the artists’ music and creating an electrifying ambiance that added to the festival’s allure.
One of the standout aspects of the festival was the sense of community and camaraderie among attendees. People came together to celebrate their shared passion for music, fostering an inclusive and positive environment. The vendors and food options were diverse, offering a wide array of culinary delights and unique merchandise that added to the overall festival experience. Again, the festival seemingly learned from its inaugural year and made all the vendor experiences fast, better, and amazing.
Additionally, the festival organizers paid great attention to detail, implementing effective crowd management and safety measures, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable event. The sustainability initiatives in place were also commendable, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Overall, the 2023 Sound on Sound Music Festival in Bridgeport, CT was a triumph. The artists, the venue, the attendees, and the overall vibe created a memorable weekend. Year two was SO much better than year one, we can only imagine how wonderful next year’s Sound on Sound Festival will be. We can’t wait….
