A parade and Hot Wheels Monster Truck Glow Party will cause traffic issues in Hartford on Saturday
On August 12th there will be multiple events happening in Downtown Hartford, along with road closures starting at Noon due to the West Indian Independence Celebration Parade. On August 12 at 12:30 PM, the XL Center will host Hot Wheels Monster Truck Live Glow Party. According to West Indian Independence Celebration, the parade will begin at Noon.
The XL Center advises all patrons to arrive in Downtown Hartford before Noon on Saturday for the 12:30 Hot Wheels Monster Trucks event. See the below instructions on the best way to avoid road closures and get to the XL Center.
- From i84 East: Take exit 49 for Ann Uccello St. Turn right onto High St. (signs for Asylum Ave). Use any lane to turn left onto Church St.
- From i84 West: Take exit 48 towards Asylum St. Merge onto Spring St. Turn right onto Garden St. Turn right onto Myrtle St. Continue onto Church St.
- i91 North to Main Street Garage: Head north towards exit 32A. Keep right at the fork to continue on Exit 32B, follow the signs for Trumbull St. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto Market St. Turn left onto Talcott St. Parking garage is on the left.
- i91 South to Market Street Garage: Head southwest on i91 S. Take exit 32A/32B for Trumbull St. Turn left onto Market St. Turn left onto Talcott St. Parking garage is on the left.
We have been advised once the West Indian Independence Celebration Parade begins the following streets will be closed. Streets will reopen as the parade passes.
- Main Street from High to Morgan South will be closed
- Trumbull Street from Market Street to Jewell will be closed
- Pleasant Street from Windsor to Ann will be closed
- Church Street from Main to Trumbull will be closed
- Jewell Street from Trumbull to Asylum will be closed
- Asylum Street East from Spruce Street to Trumbull will be closed
- Asylum Ave East will be closed at Broad St
- Farmington Ave will be closed eastbound at Broad St
- Pearl Street from Trumbull to Jewell will be closed
